If you are summoned, you are therefore being requested to attend Court to deal with the matter laid before the Court. If however you fail to attend without good reason, the Court can issue a Warrant for your arrest. You can then be arrested at short notice by the Police and brought before the Court in order to answer the Summons.


The other way in which you can appear at the Court is by way of Charge. In this case, you would have appeared at a Police Station and been charged with an offence. You would then have been granted Bail by the Police to attend Court. Bail is a requirement that you must attend Court on the date and time therein specified on the Charge Sheet.
